Many businesses have begun and boomed, or begun and bombed in the recent years. But, what’s good to see is the number of women who have been as enterprising (if not more), as their male counterparts. They too have made a name for themselves in the business world with their unique ventures.

The new generation of women across the world have fought all stereotypes and have proved themselves beyond doubt in all spheres of life including entrepreneurship.

Thus, today we bring to you the stories of some of these dynamic Indian women who have made it their mission to bring about a noticeable change in today's world.

Pooja Dhingra Founder, Le 15

Le15 Patisserie was founded by Pooja Dhingra in 2010. A graduate of Le Cordon Bleu, Paris, she wanted to offer Mumbai a taste of classic French patisserie. From macarons, to cupcakes, choux pastries, tarts, and cakes, Le15 Patisserie offers delicious and addictive treats across 3 outlets in Mumbai. Pooja’s ‘Big book of treats’, is a gift to Indian home bakers. Written by a professional, for a home chef to improvise, it teaches you how the make the simplest cookies to extravagant birthday cakes.

Falguni Nayar

Founder, Nykaa

Falguni has a degree in economics from Sydenham College along with a post graduate diploma from IIM Ahmedabad. Former Managing Director of Kotak Mahindra Capital Company, she quit her job to be an entrepreneur. She launched Nykaa in April 2012, offering beauty and wellness products from various brands, to over 900 cities across the country. Recently TVS Capital invested about Rs.25 crore and they have also got Rs.60-crore Series C fundraising from a clutch of investors, including high net-worth

individuals, non-resident Indians (NRIs) and

family offices.

Rashi Narang

Founder, Heads up for Tails

Rashi studied human resource management at the London school of Economics and then went ahead to work at a multinational bank. However, since she grew up with dogs, she always knew she wanted to do something creative and fun around them. Heads up for tails is India's exclusive luxury brand for dog couture. Her venture is a means for using her expertise and passion to make and sell the finest products and accessories for dogs.

Richa Kar

Co-founder & CEO, Zivame

Richa graduated from Bits Pilani in 2002 and went on to complete her master's from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies. While gaining retail experience at SAP, Richa realised that women were not comfortable buying lingerie in shops. To remedy this, she founded Zivame, to help women realize their lingerie needs and browse and purchase styles without embarrassment.

Sabina Chopra

Founder, Yatra.com

Sabina is a Delhi University graduated and founded Yatra.com with two men in 2006. Yatra aims to create happy travellers. Since inception, over 4 million customers have used the services provided by Yatra.com. With over a decade of work experience, Sabina manages operations and sales, aside from heading the startups domestic hotel business.

Shubhra Chadda

Co-founder, Chumbak

Shubra founded Chumbak along with her husband back in March 2010. The pair love to travel and soon realised that the very eccentric India doesn't have any souvenirs except the Taj Mahal keychains. There came the idea, to bring out India’s quirky and funky side through fridge magnets. Over the years, Shubhra has cemented her business idea of transforming the colours and unique artistry of India into novelty products.
